Takumi Ramen Station

Restaurant Japanese Eimsbüttel

About this location

Anyone who has ever sat down at Takumi on a cold Hamburg evening with a steaming bowl of ramen in front of them will immediately understand why there’s almost always a line outside the door. On Eppendorfer Weg, the restaurant is constantly buzzing: people waiting outside for a table, steam rising from the open kitchen, and the sound of bowls and chopsticks filling the room. Despite its minimalist interior, Takumi feels surprisingly cozy — modern, lively, and filled with exactly the kind of uncomplicated energy you hope for from a great ramen spot.

The menu revolves entirely around authentic Sapporo-style ramen. The noodles are imported directly from Hokkaido and have that perfectly firm texture that’s surprisingly hard to find outside Japan. Takumi is especially known for its rich miso ramen, though the shoyu and shio broths are equally impressive, layered with deep, comforting flavor. Toppings range from melt-in-your-mouth chashu pork belly and soft jammy eggs to corn and butter — a classic combination typical of northern Japan. Not only are the ramen bowls themselves consistently excellent, but sides like crispy karaage and juicy gyoza have also become essentials for us whenever we visit. And yes: slurping is absolutely encouraged here.

Takumi originally started in Düsseldorf’s famous “Little Tokyo” district before growing into one of Europe’s most respected ramen brands. Even in Hamburg, it’s obvious how seriously authenticity is taken — from the imported noodles to the rotating seasonal ramen specials that regularly appear on the menu. Reservations aren’t possible, so waiting for a table is usually part of the experience. We’re convinced that Takumi is exactly the right place when you want uncompromisingly good Japanese ramen: fast, loud, casual, and packed with umami.
