The Village
About this location
If you know Tibarg in Niendorf, you probably expect shops, cafés, and the familiar infrastructure of a lively neighborhood center. That’s exactly why The Village comes as such a surprise. Nestled among the area’s more conventional businesses is a place that deliberately defies easy categorization. Part café, part restaurant, part bar, part art gallery, and part cultural venue, The Village describes itself as an open living room for the community and brings a creative energy to Niendorf that feels refreshingly unexpected. Special thanks to Xenia and David for the recommendation. Equally inspiring is the story behind the project: what began during the pandemic as a temporary pop-up gallery evolved into a permanent gathering place thanks to the dedication of its founders, the pARTofUs artist collective, and countless friends, families, and volunteers. Much of the interior was designed and built by hand, giving the space its distinctive charm and wonderfully imperfect character.
The culinary concept is just as creative as the venue itself. During the day, guests can enjoy specialty coffee, homemade cakes, a rotating lunch menu, and a popular Saturday brunch. In the evening, the kitchen shifts toward a unique fusion of Levantine and North and Central American influences. The menu features bowls, soups, seasonal stews, quesadillas, and tostadas, alongside a wide variety of inventive vegetarian and vegan options. Not only are there dishes for every dietary preference, but the drinks menu also includes carefully selected wines, cocktails, and Crémant, with a popular happy hour drawing in both regulars and newcomers.
The true heart of The Village, however, is its vibrant cultural program. Monthly art exhibitions, workshops, open painting sessions, karaoke nights, pub quizzes, bingo events, jam sessions, and open-mic evenings ensure that there is almost always something happening. At the same time, the project follows a strong social and inclusive mission: revenue from the hospitality side helps fund cultural initiatives and support community-focused causes. The atmosphere is warm, welcoming, and deeply personal, with everyone encouraged to feel at home from the moment they walk in. We’re convinced that this unique blend of culture, community, creativity, and openness makes The Village one of the most remarkable places in Niendorf.
